The Problem
Data centers use evaporative cooling systems that consume massive amounts of water. The efficiency is measured by two key metrics:
Ratio of total facility energy to IT equipment energy. Average: 1.58. Every 1 kWh of compute needs 1.58 kWh total.
Liters of water consumed per kWh of IT energy. Average: 1.8 L/kWh. Cooling is the primary driver.
