Connect Your Platform

From your dashboard, click Connect Platform and enter your credentials. Digital Tap connects to Databricks today. Amazon EMR, Azure Synapse, Google Dataproc and Kubernetes will follow as each meets our integration standard.

⚡ Databricks — How to get your credentials

Digital Tap signs in as a service principal with an OAuth secret. It does not accept a personal access token.

  1. In your Databricks workspace, open Settings, then Identity and access, then Service principals, and add a service principal.
  2. On its Secrets tab, click Generate secret. Copy the Client ID and the OAuth secret; the secret is shown only once.
  3. Grant it what Digital Tap needs: the Workspace access and Databricks SQL access entitlements, CAN_RESTART on clusters it may hibernate, CAN_VIEW on their jobs, CAN_USE on one SQL warehouse, and the system-table grants, which a metastore admin must run. The Databricks guide lists each grant.
  4. In your dashboard, click + Connect Platform, choose Databricks, and paste the workspace URL, client ID and client secret. Your workspace URL is in the browser address bar (e.g., https://adb-1234567890.azuredatabricks.net).

Digital Tap checks the credentials work before it stores them, and reports what it can and cannot read.

Common Questions

Do I need to install anything on my servers?
No. Digital Tap AI is fully managed SaaS. We connect to your platform through its native API (e.g., Databricks REST API, AWS SDK). No agents, no sidecars, no infrastructure changes.
Is my data safe?
We only access infrastructure metadata — cluster sizes, utilization metrics, job status. We never read your data, queries, or business logic. All credentials are encrypted at rest with AES-256. See our Privacy Policy.
Will it break my running workloads?
No. Every optimization goes through our SafetyGate — 10 validation checks including confidence thresholds, blast radius analysis, and rollback plans. You can set protected clusters that are never touched, configure business hours, and choose your autonomy level (recommend-only, supervised, or full autopilot).
How quickly will I see savings?
Most customers see the first optimization within 30 minutes of connecting. Within 24 hours, you'll have a clear picture of your waste and active savings. The ML models continue improving over the first 2 weeks as they learn your workload patterns.
What permissions do you need?
Read access to list clusters and metrics. Write access to resize or terminate clusters (only used when you enable auto-optimization). You can start with read-only to see recommendations before enabling actions.
