Quick answers to the most common questions about Digital Tap AI.
Getting Started
Most teams are up and running in under 5 minutes. The onboarding wizard walks you through connecting your platform, running a scan, and activating optimization. The initial scan takes 10-30 seconds.
Digital Tap AI connects to Databricks today:
Databricks — All cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP)
Amazon EMR, Azure Synapse, Google Dataproc and Kubernetes will follow as each meets our integration standard. Contact us if you need something specific.
Digital Tap needs read access to list clusters and their utilization metrics. For automated optimization (Balanced/Aggressive modes), it also needs the ability to start, stop, and resize clusters. See the platform-specific guides for minimum required permissions.
Yes! Visit the demo dashboard to explore the full interface with sample data. You can also skip the credential step during onboarding to see demo results.
Security & Privacy
All credentials are encrypted with AES-256-GCM before storage. Encryption keys are managed via a dedicated key management system. Credentials are never stored in plain text and never logged. You can revoke access at any time from Dashboard Settings.
No. Digital Tap only accesses cluster metadata (names, sizes, utilization metrics, status). We never read, process, or store your actual data. Our agents interact with cluster management APIs only.
Optimization & Savings
Most teams see 30-50% savings on their compute spend. Savings come from: idle cluster hibernation, right-sizing oversized instances, spot instance migration, and schedule-based scaling. Your initial scan provides a personalized estimate before you activate anything.
In Conservative mode, no changes are made automatically. In Balanced mode, only clearly idle clusters are hibernated — active workloads are never interrupted. In Aggressive mode, Digital Tap may right-size or migrate clusters, but it checks for active jobs before taking action.
Yes. From the Optimization page in the dashboard, you can set per-cluster overrides. Set a cluster to "Conservative" (monitor only) or exclude it entirely from automated actions.
On the Growth plan, we guarantee a minimum savings amount based on your cloud spend. If Digital Tap doesn't deliver the guaranteed savings, we refund the difference. The guarantee amount is visible on your Optimization page.
Billing
Free: Up to 5 clusters, no credit card required
Growth: Unlimited clusters, 20% of compute savings. If we save you $10,000, you pay $2,000.
Enterprise: Custom pricing with volume discounts, dedicated support, and SLAs
You only pay when we save you money. If there are no savings, there's no charge.
Yes. There are no long-term contracts. You can disconnect your platforms and cancel your subscription at any time from Dashboard Settings. Your clusters will continue running normally.
Technical
Yes. The Digital Tap API lets you manage platforms, clusters, and optimization settings programmatically. See the API Reference for full documentation.
Digital Tap works alongside your existing IaC setup. It monitors and optimizes the runtime behavior of clusters (hibernation, scaling) without modifying your Terraform state. For teams that manage cluster definitions via IaC, we recommend using Conservative mode and applying recommended changes through your existing pipelines.
Clusters are monitored continuously via lightweight API polling (every 5 minutes by default). Full utilization analysis runs every 15 minutes. You can trigger an on-demand scan anytime from the dashboard.
